I’m pretty obsessed with yoga.
I’ve worked in the field of education for over thirty years in a variety of capacities.
I began my journey in yoga as a result of managing back pain, and found it added so much more to my physical and mental health.
Some of these benefits include strength, flexibility, focus, stress relief, and reflection. I have since become a certified yoga teacher, who strives to balance the physical asanas, or poses, with the other limbs of yoga.
The use of visualization within my yoga practice has greatly enhanced my life, and I hope to share this tool with other people on their journey to a more focused, peaceful state of being.
This book was fantastic and used vivid imagery to promote visualizations that were extremely helpful to me. I don’t practice yoga, but I would say these visualizations can help anyone during stressful or chaotic times or just serve as a general reminder to slow down and take things in during the moment. I am excited to use some of these visualizations when I go back to work in the fall and need something to help me pause and take a moment to myself to relax and breathe.
What I love about this book are the beautiful metaphors and images given to add to the yoga practice. The visualizations truly deepen the physical aspects of the yoga process in a deeply profound way. The author cites important brain research that demonstrates how utilizing all of our senses actually activates the neurons and hormones in our brains to literally rewire them.
I am very new to yoga, really just starting out, but I have been doing relaxation and meditation for many years. I have found the visualization in this book very helpful in just relaxing and focusing both with and without structured yoga practice. I find I can pick one to help me focus relaxation and deepen my meditation just sitting and connecting in my morning prayer and meditation time.
